Pray for Brussels, Belgium

"The waves of death swirled about me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears." -2 Samuel 22:5-7

This morning, two explosions killed at least 14 people at an airport in Brussels, Belgium, with another explosion killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 100 at a subway station in Brussels. At least one attack was a suicide bombing. Officials haven't stated who might be responsible, but some reports indicate that the Islamic State is claiming responsibility for the attacks.

Let's pray big prayers for the people of Brussels in the wake of this horrific event:

  • For Christians to be ready to minister to those seeking peace, comfort, and Truth in the midst of this tragedy.
  • For justice to be served as officials investigate the bombings.
  • For those directly affected by the attacks to know the love and peace of Christ in the midst of their grief.
  • For God to move on the hearts on the attackers, prompting them to come forward and even come to Christ in repentance.
  • For national leaders to take seriously the threat Islamic terrorism continues to pose to the free world.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, the darkness can be overwhelming, but I know that You are our hope in the midst of this chaos, and You that You have overcome the world. Thank You, Lord, that You are "an ever-present help in times of trouble" (Psalm 46:1). I pray that You would bring healing and awaken hearts to Your Truth in the midst of suffering. I pray that those responsible for these attacks would be found or come forward. Most of all, Lord, I pray that You would take what Satan intended for evil and use it to glorify Your name. May Your love and Truth be known in Brussels today, Lord.

Ramadan Prayer Guide

This prayer guide comes from one of our partners on the ground in the Arab world, a Christian and former Muslim.

Ramadan, fasting month in Islam, begins today in most countries. Please remember to pray for Muslims to see the light of Jesus and for new believers to stand strong against all challenges they face during this month.

Muslims believe that the Qur’an was given as a revelation during this month. They believe that evil spirits are bound in this month. Thus, nearly everyone, including nominal Muslims, become faithful in the Muslim ritual prayers during Ramadan. They fast from the first light of dawn until sunset without eating or drinking anything all day.

Muslims believe these 30 days of Ramadan are divided into 3 parts:

  1. First 10 days: A time of forgiveness when Allah forgives sins.
  2. Second 10 days: A period of mercy when Allah shows his mercy to faithful Muslims.
  3. Third 10 days: A period of escape from hell when God delivers those who do Ramadan well.

Muslims try very hard to do the ritual prayers and fasting to obtain these rewards, doing many things only to go to heaven, but not out of a love for God.

The life of the believers in Christ is also greatly impacted during this month. Many believers live at home with their family who are Muslims. Thus, they cannot eat at home or at any public place. New believers in particular face many tribulations. For this reason, please pray for the following points:

  • Believers to stand strong and boldly seize opportunities to share about God’s love for them through Christ in a manner that Muslims can see their need for Him.
  • New believers to have wisdom in responding to questions like “Are you fasting?” or “Why aren’t you coming with us?” from friends, family, and the community.
  • Muslims to see that their works are insufficient for being made right before a Holy God.
  • Muslims tuning in to our satellite programs to have a true thirst for God, to seek the Truth, and to ask for God’s forgiveness through Christ.

During Ramadan people often call our satellite channel to insult believers. Pray for those responding to these calls to be full of the Spirit and able to respond with boldness, without fear and full of Christ’s love for them.

Thank you for your prayers.

Prayers of Thanks and Praise for 2014

For Leading The Way, 2014 was a year of expansion. As we begin a New Year, let's praise God for all He did in 2014 and thank Him for what He will do in 2015:

In 2014, Leading The Way launched THE KINGDOM SAT, our 24/7 satellite channel, in Indonesia, the largest Muslim nation. Through a new partnership with a local Indonesian channel, we are able to broadcast our programs in the Indonesian language and follow up with viewers. We have already heard testimonies of how God is using this channel to draw viewers to Christ.

In 2014, Leading The Way began broadcasting in Sinhala, the language of Sri Lanka, and Japanese. Leading The Way now broadcasts in 24 languages, the most recent of which are Asian languages. Pray for God to use these dual-language programs to reach this region of the world and to open more doors to share the Word of God in Asia.

In 2014, our Help The Persecuted ministry grew exponentially. As the Syrian civil war led to one of the largest refugee crises in history and as the Islamic State advanced into Iraq, God grew our Help The Persecuted team and opened doors for Leading The Way to provide direct support to persecuted Christians in the region.

In 2014, we saw a huge advancement in our One Million Pocket Missionaries project after receiving a generous donation, allowing us to distribute 100,000 Navigator solar-powered audio devices with the Bible and Dr. Youssef's messages over the next 20 months. We are excited about this opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands more people with the Good News.

In 2014, we began broadcasting our Arabic-English radio programs in Boston, Massachusetts. These broadcasts, which now air in Boston, Richmond, and Detroit, enable us to reach some of the largest Arabic-speaking populations in America.

With your support, we were able to end the year strong and exceed our goal for the $500,000 Gift Challenge that took place in December. Thank you for your prayers and partnership in 2014 and your ongoing support in 2015!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for these new opportunities to share Your Word around the world. Guide the Leading The Way team as they produce new programs, follow up with listeners and viewers, and help the persecuted around the world. May each listener and viewer receive Your Truth and know Your love. We submit all these plans to You and commit ourselves fully to Your work in 2015, that You may be glorified. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:3-6).

One Year Later: Prayers for Indonesia

One year ago this month, Leading The Way hosted its largest on-the-ground outreach in Indonesia, the most populous Muslim-majority nation in the world. After three nights of worship, ministry, and powerful teaching by Dr. Michael Youssef, nearly a thousand people had placed their faith in Christ.

One year later, Leading The Way is continuing focused outreach to the area through distribution of Navigator solar-powered audio devices and broadcasts through THE KINGDOM SAT.

This month, join us in prayer for Indonesia as we honor the one-year anniversary of Leading The Way to Revival in Indonesia.

Thank you for your prayers. May the harvest continue to be plentiful in Indonesia!
