Homegrown Terror Déjà Vu

The shooting of four marines yesterday at a recruiting center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was tragic but unfortunately not shocking. With lone wolf attacks on the rise, this act of homegrown terror is reminiscent of a powerful story we shared just a few years ago.

In 2009, Private Andy Long was killed by 23-year-old American Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, born Carlos Leon Bledsoe, who opened fire on soldiers in a drive-by shooting in front of a United States military recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Andy's parents responded with a frank reaction to America's ignorance — and their ability to forgive and love will inspire you.

Watch the Long Family Story and join us in praying for the victims of yesterday's act of domestic terrorism.

July Notes from Our Inbox

Each month Leading The Way receives correspondence from all over the world. Through emails, letters, SMS, and phone calls, viewers and listeners express share how God has touched them through our programming. We hope that this month’s notes from our inbox will be an encouragement to you and an answer to your prayers for Leading The Way.

USA:

“I very much like to read and listen to all that you offer. I have witnessed more and more of God working in my life and I am grateful for having the opportunity to be able to learn from the way Michael presents his messages. God does have a plan for me and Michael has really opened my eyes to the most important message of all.”

Australia:

“I was greatly encouraged in the Lord when an occasion arose where I was resting on a seat outside a supermarket waiting for my daughter. I thought, ‘What a good opportunity to listen to Leading The Way.’ There was a young, unkempt aboriginal lad sitting nearby and as I listened he said, ‘Do you listen to Michael Youssef?’ He is not currently practicing the Christian faith, but he listens to Michael on radio. I don’t presume I might have encouraged him, but my main reason for sharing this is to say how happy I was to hear how the Word of God is going out into the aboriginal community. I praise the Lord and trust the work will bear much fruit for God’s glory.”

USA:

“Your sermon, Conquer Part 4: Heaven or Hell was amazing! What a wake-up call. Everyone needs this message desperately. This is the most important message I’ve ever heard! Thank you Dr. Youssef!”

Morocco:

“I’ve been searching for the truth for the past year and I know now that Christianity is the only true religion. I read the Bible. I know we are called to love each other and not to kill and fight. I want to become a Christian. Would you please tell me more about the Holy Spirit?”

Egypt:

“I want to know about Christianity and I have the desire to accept Christ the Lord of peace and love as my Savior.”

Indonesia:

“We have distributed Leading The Way Navigator devices to the Wana people of Indonesia. It takes 22 hours to go to the Wana village—12 hours by car, five hours by small ship, and five hours by motor bike. Most of the Wana people cannot read or write and are far from the modern world, so the Navigator has become a very effective tool in delivering the good news. Thank you for your partnership and your heart for our people in Indonesia.”

"ISIS Opened My Eyes": Watch Samar's Story

What is it like to be a Christian in a place where evangelism is illegal and conversion to Christianity is a capital offense? With a 92% Muslim population and no official churches, Saudi Arabia is one of the most difficult places to be a Christian. But as Muslims become disillusioned by ISIS, God is opening their eyes and drawing them to the Good News of Jesus.

Samar is an 18-year-old young woman from Saudi Arabia. From a young age, she questioned the beliefs of Islam. The violent acts of ISIS only reaffirmed her doubts. Would she continue to follow Islam -- or would she take the dangerous risk of following Christ?

Watch this courageous young woman’s story and hear how God used the broadcasts and personal follow-up of Leading The Way to draw her to faith in the Lord Jesus.

Your gifts are helping us reach people like Samar every day through 24/7 global broadcasting, personal follow-up, and Help The Persecuted. Consider partnering with us during this month’s June Gift Challenge and help us expand this crucial ministry work here at home and in the Muslim world.

Victorious Moments and Divine Appointments

As Leading The Way's fiscal year comes to an end and we reflect on all God has done, God has made it clear that even in the darkest of places, He is moving mightily through our broadcasts, personal follow-up, and ministry to the persecuted.

In the last 12 months of ministry, we have celebrated many highlights -- including the distribution of tens of thousands of solar-powered Navigator devices; the addition of Japanese to our dual-language library; helping thousands of persecuted Christians, many directly affected by ISIS; and engaging in on-the-ground discipleship with viewers of our satellite television channel in the Muslim world.

This year, we've been blessed to hear many testimonies like these:

"I was one of those people who blindly and fanatically defended Islam. But after in-depth study of the Qur’an, I couldn’t see love or justice in the god of Islam. I called my friend and he told me about your satellite channel. I started to watch the programs and got to know and understand the character of God, whom I always longed to know. I thank God that He delivered me from Satan and called me out of darkness into His wonderful light." -Morocco

"I watch your show every Sunday in my cell, and your ministry has really blessed me a lot. I'm in serious trouble, and I’ve really messed things up for my life. I’ve come to the end of myself and accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior while in jail. I just love Jesus and what He’s done for me. Thank you again for your words of wisdom and encouragement." -Australia

"I was at the lowest point and darkest time of my life. Your support really helped me to get back up on my feet again." -Lebanon

Through your partnership, God’s Truth is going forth, transforming hearts and minds in Christ -- and God is orchestrating victorious moments and divine appointments all over the world.

This month, generous donors have given $500,000 to Leading The Way and are challenging you to match their gifts. With your help, $500,000 can become $1 million that will help us broadcast the Gospel 24/7, follow up on the ground, and help our persecuted brothers and sisters.

Will you join us in this timely mission?
