QUESTION:

"How do I get through hurts, disappointments, and setbacks in my Christian walk?"

"It's as relevant today as the day it was written."

ANSWER:

James tells us what a spiritually healthy and godly response looks like: "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness"(James 1:2-3, ESV). For many of us, these verses are difficult to accept. But the Truth of this principle is undeniable: Trials have a way of nudging us toward God, helping us grow stronger and more mature in the faith.

God wants us to reach a place in our walk with Him where we can face trials and tragedies with unfluttered hearts and unshaken faith. He wants us to know peace in the midst of upheaval and uncertainty. He wants us to experience the godly contentment that comes with submission to the Father's plan. In times of suffering or opposition, you'll be tempted to feel like God has abandoned you. You'll be tempted to assume that Satan has the upper hand. But God wants you to reach a place of spiritual maturity where you trust His goodness, His wisdom, and His love in spite of your suffering and pain.
