In 2014, a video circulated online of Christians in China receiving a suitcase of Bibles—possibly smuggled in from another country. As they open God's Word for the first time, some shout joyfully. Others press their face to the pages and wipe away tears. One woman, clutching her new Bible, says tearfully, "This is what we needed the most."
The average American household has 4.4 Bibles available in multiple translations, while an estimated 114 million people do not have access to the Bible in their own language at all.
For years, missionaries have struggled to get Bibles across borders and into the hands of those who need them the most.
