No one knows the day or the hour when Jesus will return—but we must be ready for his return at any moment. Jesus predicted the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. His prophecy was unbelievable, inconceivable to the disciples at the time—yet it was fulfilled precisely on time. Jesus also told His disciples about signs that would be fulfilled immediately prior to His return. Make no mistake: Those signs will also be fulfilled precisely on time.

The notion that you can always get right with God at some later date is a trap Satan has set for you.

Some people say, "When things get really bad, I'll get right with God." My friend, this may be your one and only opportunity. You may never get another chance to come to Him. Later, when you think you might be ready, your mind and heart may be dazzled by material things, or you may be in the clutches of habits you can't break, or you may be in the company of people who will lead you away from God.

The notion that you can always get right with God at some later date is a trap Satan has set for you. Don't get caught in it. Come to Jesus now. He is waiting for you now.

At some future date, known only to the Father, Jesus will return suddenly and only those who are anticipating His return will rejoice on that day. Everyone else will despair. Jesus says: "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come" (Matthew 24:40–42). This is how sudden and quick the end will be. Two people will be working together side by side. One will be taken to heaven, the other will stay behind to face the judgment.

"Therefore keep watch," Jesus says. Don't fall asleep. Be on guard. Keep watching for the Lord's return. Live with urgency in your heart and watch for His return.

Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness into the glorious light of Your presence and love. I want others to know the joy of a life lived with You. May I speak boldly as I ought to speak knowing that the message is urgent and precious. Give those You put in my path ears to hear Your message of salvation. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"As God's co-workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. For he says, 'In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:1-2).
